The Fighting Cocks is one of Kingston’s best-loved independent venues – a proper local institution with live music, good drinks and a whole lot going on. Based in the heart of Kingston, it’s been part of the town’s music scene for decades, building a reputation for putting on great live acts and giving up-and-coming artists a place to play.
Music is still very much at the heart of what happens here, with gigs covering everything from rock, punk and indie to metal, alternative and everything in between. But it’s not just about live bands. The Fighting Cocks also hosts comedy nights, open mics, quizzes, Rockeoke, pool tournaments, Dungeons & Dragons and plenty of other events that keep the calendar busy.
It’s the kind of place where you can come down for a gig, grab a few drinks, meet some mates and end up staying a lot longer than planned. The bar keeps things relaxed, with a solid selection of beers, ciders, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks, including plenty of alcohol-free options. Food is classic, pub grub, with things like loaded hot dogs and nachos alongside veggie and vegan choices.
With a 150-capacity live room and a flexible space that can also be hired for private parties, DJ nights, screenings and other events, there’s plenty going on beyond the gig calendar.
