ESEA Culture Festival 2025

Kingston’s ESEA Culture Festival returns in September as part of a borough-wide cultural celebration marking the 1100th anniversary of the crowning of Athelstan, first King of a united England.

To mark its 10th anniversary, the Korean British Culture Exchange will be organising a special edition of the East Southeast Asian Festival, to celebrate the vibrant diversity of these many cultures. With outdoor performances, workshops, crafts and food, this delightful family event blends wonderful live performances with interactive demonstrations and engaging audience participation. Other events in the ESEA Culture Festival include the UK national K-Pop competition which will be hosted at the Rose Theatre. From K-Pop to J-Pop to world music, ESEA has it all!

Live entertainment

  • Chinese Dance – Kingston Chinese Association
  • Hong Kong – Traditional and contemporary music by VIC/ Harmonia, Musical Kidz, and Miss Carol Lee
  • Japan – POP by Frank Chickens (presented by Ura Matsuri)
  • Philippine Dance – Sinulog Dorset Traditional Dance
  • KPOP Dance – Tiffany Poon & her students and Studio Slash and Music Sasha
  • ESEA Young Musicians – Showcasing emerging talent from ESEA communities

Martial Arts demonstrations

  • China – Tai Chi by Master Jimmy Chow and his students and Kung Fu by Kingston Tai Chi Class
  • Korea – Taekwondo by Master Jong Ho Kim & Wild Tigers Taekwondo, and Hapkido by Master Dae Man Sung and his student

Community Random Dance

  • Everyone’s invited to join the fun on the dance floor!

Family Craft Activity

  • Children aged 5 and over are welcome.
  • Children under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult.

Street Food

  • Enjoy delicious street food from Hong Kong, Thailand, and South Korea.
