Mayor’s Charity Quiz

  • Council Chamber, Guildhall
  • 17 Oct, 2025
  • 7pm - 10.15pm

This year’s Mayor, Councillor Noel Hadjimichael, has chosen two charities to support via the trust – LEAH (Learn English at Home) and FANY’s ( First Aid Nursing Yeomanry – Princess Royal’s Volunteer Corps), both of which are female oriented charities.

For over 40 years, LEAH have been working in the Kingston borough to empower people (predominantly women), whose first language is not English and have great expertise in understanding the needs of some very vulnerable people affected by trauma and displacement. Their greatest strength is the fact that their support is led by dedicated volunteers who have been fully trained to deliver lessons and they, along with our very experienced staff team, provide essential support to help people become included in our communities.

The FANY (PRVC) is an all female volunteer organisation, with a diverse membership, and are on call 24/7, 365 days a year. They deploy multi-faceted rapid response teams to support civil and military authorities in times of crisis. Recent examples would include the Grenfell Tower disaster and the set up of Nightingale Hospitals during COVID. FANYs train every week to ensure that they can provide surge relief to civil and military authorities in times of crisis. They also deploy in support of non-emergency operations, and routinely assist organisations, such as the police with their training, to help keep their members sharp and to forge working relationships.

Doors open at 7pm and the Quiz starts at 7.30pm.

A complimentary glass of fizz is available on arrival and included in the ticket price. A cash bar will be in operation in aid of the Mayor’s Charitable Trust for all other drinks (soft and alcoholic). You can bring your own nibbles to eat.
